JOHN Brain bemoaned his side's poor finishing as Worcester Rugby Club missed out on a bonus point in a 20-11 win at Bedford Blues.

Worcester dominated possession in the National One clash at Goldington Road but were unable to turn good positions into points as rivals Rotherham cut their lead at the top to four points with a 47-3 win at Moseley.

The Sixways' coach was disappointed with his team's display as they dropped what could be a vital point.

"We had a lot of the play," he said. "We found ourselves behind at half- time but came out and straight away scored two tries. Then though, I thought we should have scored two or three more but we didn't finish the opportunities properly."

Worcester hit back from 6-0 down to lead 17-6 early in the second-half with former Bedford star Ben Hinshelwood scoring a brace of tries on his return to Goldington Road.

However, they could not find those extra tries and Bedford scored a try through Sam Alatini with 15 minutes left to make it a nervy ending for the Sixways club.

They held on and ended Bedford's unbeaten home record in the process to lead National One by four points.

"We've won in a difficult game at the end of the day and we've kept our unbeaten away record going. I think we played very professionally for the first 15 minutes of the second-half," said Brain.

"However, we thought we would have plenty of opportunities to score so we could waste some and it just doesn't work like that. If you get opportunities, you simply have to take them and we didn't."

Man of the match Hinshelwood added: "After scoring a couple of tries early in the second-half, we really should have gone on and taken the bonus point.

"I was pleased to get two tries at my old club even if they did get the biggest boos of the day! They were nothing special, I was lucky really."
