IN the Evening News of November 7, you reported details of the letter from the Worcestershire Headteachers Forum that had been read out in Parliament by Peter Luff.
The reaction from Mike Foster was, to say the least, negative and certainly not supportive.
However, in your November 8 edition we find both Mike Foster and Jacqui Smith pressing the case for Worcestershire Schools to be given extra cash in "productive" talks with Local Government Secretary Stephen Byers.
This appears to be a sudden change of heart, possibly occasioned by the fact that Peter Luff seems to show a more active interest that others whose parliamentary "jobs" make it difficult to pursue the matter with the independence that we have a right to expect from our sitting MP.
Perhaps the adverse publicity has persuaded him to risk the displeasure of his "masters" and act in the interests of his constituents and not his future promotion prospects.
One can only commend the action of Peter Luff and the "Forum" in highlighting this further snub to the Worcestershire Education Authority and trying to do something about it!
