WE visited your city the weekend before last to see Dead Men Walking, a superb group made up from Glen Matlock of The Sex Pistols, Mike Peters from The Alarm, Kirk Brandon from Spear of Destiny and Pete Wylie of The Mighty Wah.
We had already seen three of their gigs prior to visiting Worcester, but we have to say this was the best one, due mainly to the cracking venue you have in Worcester with The Marrs Bar. There is such atmosphere and hospitality and what a friendly audience.
Many, like us, had travelled miles to the gig. We were in the same hotel with six others who were following the tour.
However, hardly anyone in Worcester seems to know where The Marrs Bar is located. We asked several people for directions before striking lucky and finding the venue in Pierpoint Street opposite the Odeon Cinema.
Such an oasis for live performing acts should be better supported by Worcester people.
Incidentally, when scanning your newspaper in the hotel, we were very disappointed to find such a tiny preview piece by your reporter Liz Freeth - is she too young to remember The Sex Pistols?
We spent the rest of the weekend shopping and revisited The Marrs Bar on Sunday night.
We were given free chilli and rice and saw another wonderfully talented act called the Bar Flys.
We will definitely come back to Worcester as, being middle-aged, it was nice to find a venue where all age groups appreciate talented musicians. The venue is not just geared up to the young. Well done.
