WITH reference to J Burgess's attack on Maurice Brett for disagreeing with him, again methinks the gentleman doth protest too much.
If, as he insists, hunt terrier work is carried out humanely, why not allow it to be viewed and videoed?
The excuses he trots out seem very weak to me. Isn't it because there would be such extreme degradation and a cruel death caused to wild animals that, if this was allowed to be filmed in its entirety, would sicken any viewer with an ounce of humanity in them?
It is on record that the video of a foxhunt shown to MPs so sickened them that it influenced the vote against hunting.
The bottom line is, Mr Burgess, that terrier work and fox hunting activities result in an ignominious death for wild animals. We cannot escape that fact.
