Harriers made a surprise switch when Appleby dropped back into midfield and Bennett took over the on-loan player's striking role.
The visitors were willing to try their luck from distance within the first five minutes as strikers Henrikson and Larkin were both off target with long-range efforts.
Harriers were looking well in control in midfield and they panicked Lincoln into conceding a corner on 10 minutes.
The home side managed to clear Appleby's flag-kick but Harriers continued to look the better side in possession.
On 13 minutes Lincoln put together a good move down the left flank as front man Battersby laid the ball off for full-back Bimson whose cross was headed well over by Sedgemore.
