DROITWICH will be sparkling this Christmas thanks to an electrifying charity venture in memory of loved ones.
By taking part in the Tree of Light project, townspeople can sponsor a Christmas light which will burn on the tree in Victoria Square in memory of a friend or relative.
All donations will go to St Richard's Hospice, in Worcester.
The name of the remembered person will be placed in a memorial book at Droitwich's library, in Victoria Square.
The Yuletide lights will officially be switched on at 4pm on Saturday December 1 and will shine brightly until January 5.
The venture, in its second year, has been organised by Rotary Club of Droitwich Spa Saltway.
Group press officer Stuart Beardsall said: "We raised more than £1,000 for charity last year and we are hoping to raise even more this time.
"The event is a perfect opportunity for residents to make a contribution to a worthwhile cause and to do something really special to remember a loved one at Christmas."
To take part, fill in the pledge form on Page 9 of this week's newspaper.
They are also available from our High Street office and the library.
They must be returned to Lloyd's TSB, in Victoria Square.
