YOUNGSTERS at a Worcester school are helping to feed the homeless with proceeds made from their harvest festival.

Pupils from Warndon Infants School raised £50 for the Maggs Day Centre, which serves more than 100 hot meals every day to people who live on the streets.

The charity is desperately in need of funds to stay open over the Christmas holidays.

"Every little helps," said Rob Peachey chairman of the day centre, in Deansway, which prides itself on offering more than just "tea and sympathy".

He said the centre was "aiming to raise as much money as possible" and had become very busy serving hot breakfasts and lunches to the needy.

"As a charity we not only offer food and drink but with the help of social workers try to produce a care plan for our clients," he said.

"Each month we aim to re-home at least one person."
