ON November 30, the Home Energy Conservation Bill has its second reading in Parliament.
This Bill is to close present loopholes, such as protecting people living in 'homes in multiple cccupation' - students, young people etc - presently at risk.
If 100 MPs do not turn up to vote for this Bill, it fails.
This Bill also includes energy conservation, will hopefully end fuel poverty and should provide the opportunity for safe, decent homes for everybody.
The HECA targets will not be met without this Bill.
All MPs with a conscience should be there to ensure its success.
Councils at present only have guidelines and these have proved inadequate.
Groups supporting this Bill include all-Parliamentary Warm Homes Group, ACE, NEA, Shelter, Friends of the Earth and many others.
We are hoping MPs see the importance of this Bill and be in the Commons to vote on it.
Many Labour MPs have made promises and on November 30 we will see whether they keep them.
