THE Winyates Green Triangle, earmarked for housing, has been removed from Stratford Council's Local Plan review.
Councillors backed the move on Friday.
The land off Far Moor Lane falls under the district council's jurisdiction and English Partnership wants to build hundreds of houses on it.
But before the review is officially adopted, the land is still technically recommended for development and an application may still have to be considered by the district council.
Darren Cutler, of GVA Grimley, agents for English Partnerships, said the company was still in discussion with planning officers as to whether the housing application should be withdrawn or go ahead.
He said Friday's decision was likely to have some bearing on what was decided.
