Three star

THE first album featuring all-new material from Sir Paul after the death of Linda turns out to be not only a tribute to her but the new love of his life, Heather.

And he takes us on a gentle journey through the highs and lows that have brought him to this place.

This was never going to be an earth-shattering, ground-breaking album.

Instead, it leaves you with the feeling of having had a long heart-to-heart with him over a cup of tea and some choccie biscuits.

The opening track, Lonely Road, is a trip down Memory Lane, made up of lyrics such as: 'I tried to get over you/I tried to find something new/But all I could ever do/Was fill, my time/With thoughts of you'.

Filled with sombre reflections and tender memories, it also reveals fears of falling in love again.

It kicks the album off on a bit of a downer, but things soon start to look hopeful with the arrival of the second track, From A Lover To A Friend.

'Let me love again/Now that you turned out to be/Someone I can trust/Someone I believe'.

This works as an album but is an intensely personal offering and is not what you might expect.

But don't be put off by the emotions behind it. Musically, it is sound and worth a listen.
