THE two top teams in Division 1 of the Bromsgrove & Redditch Table Tennis League enjoyed easy victories with champions Lickey Monarchs beating Barnt Green 9-1 and Newton Works comfortable 10-0 winners at SPSP.
Astwood Bank beat Droitwich 6-4.
For Droitwich Trevor Simmons was outstanding, winning all three games.
He teamed up with Gordon Nicklin to win the doubles.
For Astwood Bank Nigel Anson, Ken Southwell and Margaret Dignum won two each.
In Division 2 West Midland Phones won 10-0 at Studley Road Terriers.
But Terriers had a 7-3 win at Newton Works C with Bernie Leech winning his three games, backed up by Jeff Lines and Ian Cairns.
Jeff and Bernie won the doubles.
For Newton Brian Askey did best, winning two with Steve Dimbylow getting the other. Hillcrest had a 6-4 win at Barnt Green B. Graeme Farral won three, Alan McLoughlan two and they teamed up to win the doubles. For Barnt Green Ian Scott did best winning two.
Droitwich B went down 6-4 at home to Barnt Green Hornets in a hard-fought match with five of the games going to best of three.
Simon Tibke had a great night for Droitwich, winning three, but the only other win was from Dave Watson.
Barnt Green's Paul Grigg and Ivor Anderson both won two with Tony Lawton getting one. In the all-important doubles Paul and Ivor beat Simon and Dave 21-19, 16-21, 21-19.
