DEAR EDITOR - Coverage of the proposed closure of the slip road adjacent to Bromsgrove Golf Centre has so far put only one side of the argument. We would now appreciate the opportunity to offer an alternative view.

The location of the snack bar attracts totally unacceptable levels of traffic that present a real threat to road safety in and around the Stratford Road roundabout. Drivers are always double-parking along the road and regularly turn off the roundabout directly onto the slip road and drive the wrong way up a one way street. How long before an accident occurs?

We conducted a survey in September this year to gauge the levels of traffic stopping on the slip road. In one week alone we counted approximately 100 HGVs - all of which had stopped to use the snack bar - they cause congestion and create dozens upon dozens of unnecessary traffic movements on and off the roundabout.

We try to maintain the land adjacent to the golf centre to a good standard to create an attractive environment for visitors but this is degenerating into an eyesore with vehicles parking on verges. HGVs in particular disregard the waiting limit and park for much longer periods, often overnight.

Another problem is the anti-social behaviour of drivers who urinate in broad daylight by the golf centre - it's disgusting and totally unacceptable. People using the snack bar leave litter along the road, creating an environment ideal for rats and other vermin.

It isn't just the golf centre that would like the road closed, the Crime Risk Manager of West Mercia Police, WPC Taryn Green also supports the proposed closure because it, will create a more secure environment for visitors to the centre and also for nearby residents.
