WITH reference to my letter re lack of publishing by way of match reports and your Sports Editor's reply published in last week's newspaper.
Mr Fred Evans has not imposed a press blackout as stated. He is in constant liaison with our manager to ascertain his views on the team and players' performances and future signings etc. But Mr Hall will not publish these views.
As a result Mr Evans has requested club officials and supporters to write to your paper, highlighting his and their frustration with this situation.
A scrutiny of the last ten issues of the paper reveals the many times the views of Studley BKL's spokesman Mr David Robinson on team performances and fixtures are quoted and published, yet our spokesman is denied this privilege. Why?
On Monday, November 12, Club Director Mr John Foster e-mailed at 9am a report on the Grosvenor away fixture to you. At 9.40am on the same day I delivered reports on the away derby fixture against Pershore and the Grosvenor match. Not one word was printed. Why?
The photograph submitted with my original letter was not published. Why?
Your Editor may use the departing Redditch United management as a reason for space priority. But we can read about the area's other three big club's matches along with Kings Norton, Old Edwardians and Alcester rugby matches, together with Redditch Ladies hockey, Regents basketball and Redditch trampolining, but not Alvechurch football. Why?
In a recent edition of the paper Mr Hall could find nearly half a sports page to detail a player's experience when making a guest appearance for a team that is not based in the paper's circulation area playing away against a Coventry team. Yet not one column inch on that Saturday's Alvechurch match. Why?
What we are trying to achieve is a situation where our loyal supporters who are unable to travel to away matches, or indeed on occasion attend home games, can read about their team's performance.
I will not accept Mr Hall would allow a prejudice against one man to affect his professional journalistic integrity. However, Mr Evans has no problems with our other local newspaper the Redditch Standard. Since the start of the season they have carried comments on a weekly basis. This week's copy carries the John Foster Grosvenor match report that your newspaper failed to publish.
Finally, it is not my intention to get involved in an exchange of views on this subject, these are my final words. I just hope that justice and fairness can prevail.
