THE October meeting took the form of a members' evening and the theme was The Forties.
Ration books were needed for refreshments and the 40s quiz was won by the president, Miss Smedley.
The sing-song concluded with There'll always be an England.
The speaker at the November meeting was Brian Windmill, who gave a fascinating talk about his life, from schooldays in an orphanage, years in the Royal Navy and then a successful career in the police.
On his retirement, he began a new life as a writer of crime fiction.
Members were able to buy signed copies of his first novel.
The competition to design a cover of a crime book was won by Mrs Eunice King.
The meeting on December 6 will be a Christmas celebration, with refreshments and entertainment.
New members welcome. Meetings take place at the village hall at 7.30pm on the first Thursday of every month.
