AFTER a fine 2-0 win over Tamworth-based side Polesworth last week, where Dane Wood and Waine Devey scored, Villa went down in a closely-fought game on Saturday.

The match started with both sides having difficulty in controlling the ball on a bumpy and uneven surface, which affected Villa's passing game.

In the 25th minute home keeper Matty Smith came to the rescue with a fine save as Villa gradually took control of the game.

In the 40th minute the home side took the lead through Chris Davis, who scored with a tremendous shot from 20 yards out.

In the second half, Villa pressed the home side back, but they could not create any clear-cut chances. Frustration took over after 70 minutes when Devey was sent off for violent play.

In the final five minutes of the game a deep cross from Paul Matthews was headed off the line by a home defender with the keeper beaten, thus ending Villa's three match unbeaten run.
