DR Richard Taylor claims he gave Tony Blair "a jolt" when he tackled him on healthcare for the elderly during Prime Ministers' questions last week.

The Wyre Forest MP asked whether Mr Blair agreed it was "indefensible" that elderly patients to pay for healthcare that will soon be free in Scotland - and declared an interest in the questions "as one of the 39 old-age pensioners in the house".

Mr Blair told him the Government had to choose priorities on healthcare spending and that money could be spent better elsewhere in the NHS.

"Observers told me it did at least cause him a jolt," Dr Taylor said.
