VALE men with vocal talent are being sought to join a barbershop combo.

Pershore Barbershop or Vale Harmony, as the group is more popularly known, is looking for more willing members to join up.

Barbershop is a style of unaccompanied singing in four parts. Bass, baritone, lead and tenor and most of the songs are popular ballads, many are love songs from a man to his lady.

Member Andy Parsloe said: "Anyone who would like to try this wonderful way of making music will be warmly welcomed. You don't have to be able to read music, many of our existing members don't!"

He said that in the first instance, anyone was welcome to come along and have a cup of coffee and listen to the harmony group practise.

He added: "You'll be under no pressure or obligation to join unless you want to and that's a promise."

The group, which occasionally enters national competitions, rehearses at 8pm on Wednesdays at Fladbury Village Hall, under the guidance of musical director Molly Hilton, who is the group's only female.

Mr Parsloe said: "Achieving the high musical standards aimed for involves practise and commitment but it is very much a 'fun' organisation."
