SAILING: A weekend of very light winds led to a frustrating time at Trimpley Sailing Club.
The November Pursuit Race saw six GP14s and two Laser battle it out in almost calm conditions on Saturday.
Despite using a shortened course because of the conditions, the boats still only managed one lap of the reservoir.
Geoff Waltier and crew Eric Reed got off to a flier as they did last month but were hauled in slowly by the Ray Drury and Richard Turnock dinghy.
But the Keith Young and Dave Hayes combination was in close pursuit and they held off Drury to finish only seconds ahead.
Waltier took third spot followed by Rob Hart, Simon Fletcher and Peter Moore.
In the second race, Waltier again got to the front and held on until the final mark when Drury passed him to win the race.
With Young only finishing in fourth place, the series went to Drury and Turnock.
Results: Drury/Turnock 2.75 points, Young/Hayes 4.75, Waltier/Reed 7.
In the Laser class, Eddy Hillman gave the Fieldhouse sisters in their Laser 13 a big lead but just managed to pass them as the race was ended.
Hillman also led the fleet home in the second race to take the title.
On a beautiful but tranquil Sunday afternoon, the boats fared no better than the previous day.
Jeff Halford beat Glen Caulwell in the Noon Single-handed.
The Autumn Noon race went to the Fletchers boat with young Tom helming from Mark and Michelle Tromans with Alan and son John taking third place.
In the second race of the series, the Fletchers kept up their winning ways beating the Halford and Bradley combination.
The final race in the series was abandoned due to lack of wind.
