A BURGLAR who stole a guest's keys from a Bewdley hotel and drove off in his company car has been jailed for 20 months.
Wayne Chadwick crashed the Audi after speeding at 80 mph along country lanes and then in a 30mph area, Worcester Crown Court heard.
The 26-year-old from Botha Road, Birmingham, pleaded admitted burglary and aggravated vehicle taking.
Judge John Cavell, who also banned the defendant for 12 months, said he had driven "at wildly excessive speed".
Chadwick broke into the Jarvis Heath Hotel on March 13 and stole the car keys from a bedroom. Police on patrol in Belbroughton tried to check the car but Chadwick fled once the officers had identified themselves, said prosecutor Jason Aris. He crashed on to a pavement at Romsley.
He had previous convictions for taking a car without consent and burglary.
