HAVING read reports from the "planners" and comments made by local council officers in recent issues of the Shuttle/Times and News regarding car parking, I can only think that they must be living in cloud cuckoo land.
Do they really think that...
1 A mother of school-age children is going to wait until after 4.15pm to go into town to shop, thus having to take her children with her?
2 A housewife who has a family coming home for an evening meal is going to wait until 4.15pm to start her shopping?
3 Elderly people are going to wait until after 4.15pm to start their shopping - in the dark?
4 Anyone is going to park on the Stadium car park, walk into town and walk back up the hill, loaded with shopping bags?
As for the comments that "local small traders had been advised of the coming problems with parking" -what good does that do them? It doesn't put customers in their shops or money in their tills.
The only conclusion I can come to is, to use a slang expression but one which I think is particularly apt, "some people really are off their trolleys".
However, I shall continue to shop in Kidderminster.
