THE problems continued for Cleobury Mortimer as they struggled to field a side worthy of Midlands Four West (North) and lost 48-3 at Newcastle.
With an ageing squad, injuries and a Young Farmers weekend away, Cleobury - who are viewing this season as one of transition - were robbed of up to 10 players.
A mix and match team travelled with Alan Woodhouse forced out of retirement, Mark Little back too early after a hamstring injury and Cleobury unable to nominate a linesman.
However, the team spirit was tremendous as a siege mentality managed to hold off the inevitable onslaught for much of the first half against a side in a similar league position.
Colin Smith did post one penalty opportunity as they turned round at 21-3 at the interval.
In the second half, tiredness set in and with Little forced to retire injured late in the game they finished with 14 brave souls against a determined outfit.
Cleobury are still second from bottom ahead of Wheaton Aston who have lost all their six games.
