November 23, 1901

Broadway: Ernest Vincent, a labourer of Broadway, was charged with being drunk at Broadway on November 2 - Defendant pleaded guilty - PS Lewis stated that while on duty, he saw the defendant near the New Inn. His father was trying to take him home but he would not allow him. Witness then warned him with the result that he went home. Fined 2s 6d and 5s 6d.

Evesham: At a delegate meeting of the Evesham Divisional Labour Party held at Evesham on Saturday, and attended by delegates from Badsey, Blockley, Broadway, Fernhill Heath, Offenham, Ombersley, Pinvin and other places, Mr Robert Aldington was adopted unanimously and with acclamation as prospective Labour candidate for the division.

November 24, 1951

EVESHAM: Evesham Town Council's "points" system of allotting council house tenancies was again debated by the Housing Committee on Monday. At present only applications for council houses which were received up to the end of 1949 are being considered. The committee decided that their points sub-committee should discuss ways of varying the system and submit to the next committee meeting recommendations designed to provide for cases of great hardship among recent applications.

Evesham: Prospects for Vale builders are bleak, with many of them facing the worst slump since the 1930's. Cancelled contracts, lack of investment and a general uncertainty in the trade have all contributed to the grimmest winter that many builders are facing since they started in business. Managing director of Ken Lymm Builders, Mr K P Lymm, said: "I just don't know how we will survive, this is the worst slump since the war and I know many firms that are closing down."
