Gloucester City 0, Evesham Utd 2

A SECOND Western Division double in the space of seven days and a third successive win keeps Phil Mullen's side hot on the heels of the section leaders, writes Mervyn Collins.

Two goals in the space of three second half minutes killed off the struggling hosts, who had dragged Evesham down to their level in a scrappy opening 45 minutes.

It didn't look too good for the visitors when Shaun Pratt stayed in the dressing room at half-time but fellow striker James Brown came up trumps in front of goal.

The youngster touched in the impressive Steve McCartan's 54th minute cross and two minutes later the scorer skipped past the onrushing City keeper and his superb cross was coolly knocked in by Andy Hodgetts.

It was all a far cry from the first half when neither keeper was tested and Brown looked like a fish out of water down the left flank.

McCartan popped up on his goalline to hack clear a header from Chris Burns but the switch of Brown alongside Hodgetts and introduction of Scott Mullen pepped up the Robins.

Steve Lutz was another to impress in a fabulous second half when simplicity was the key to success on an afternoon when Evesham were head and shoulders above their hapless hosts.
