TWO Worcestershire MPs and a delegation of headteachers travelled to see a Government minister this week in a bid to improve education funding in the county.
Bromsgrove's MP, Julie Kirkbride, and Mid-Worcestershire MP Peter Luff took a selection of headteachers to see the local government minister, Dr Alan Whitehead, on Monday.
The meeting was secured by Mr Luff on behalf of Worcestershire's MPs to press for a better financial deal for the county's schools, which have suffered an historically low settlement when compared to similar areas.
Miss Kirkbride said: "We had a good constructive meeting in which we hope that our dogged efforts to improve Worcestershire's share of the education budget may finally be successful.
"However, until we see our settlement this year and hear more about the plans for reform in future years we dare not be too optimistic."
