LEAGUE leaders Lea-mington proved too strong for Evesham last Saturday after setting the trend with an early score.
The visitors gradually found their feet and prop Chris Maritza was halted just yards from the Leamington line.
It was a crucial escape for the hosts who hit back with a try and penalty to lead 18-0 at half-time.
Chris Evis kicked two penalties after the break but Leamington struck back with a further seven points to establish a lead that Evesham again reduced when Tom Archer crossed for a consolation.
Evesham visit Pershore on Sunday (2) when a place in round two of the North Midlands Cup will be at stake.
