n THOMAS Bromley (You Say, November 12) is typical of people who try and portray those who rightly point out the dangers of animal "research" as putting animal lives before human.

In fact, anti-vivisectionists are very much aware of the need for advancement in medicine; but not by the use of a pseudo science. Using animals as surrogate humans is invalid; it compromises human welfare as well as causing unimaginable pain and suffering to animals.

Recent horrors such as BSE and the threat of anthrax began in the animal research industries. Animal feed, such as the hazardous practice of feeding carnivores to herbivores was one such "experiment" .

Warfare experiments (with the ultimate aim of killing human beings) emanate from government-funded primate vivisection laboratories.

There are more reliable methods of research than the use and abuse of animals in laboratories.
