THIS month marks the tenth anniversary of the Evesham Tae Kwon-Do Club.
Tae Kwon-Do is a proven Korean martial art that provides a unique blend of effective self-defence, fitness and flexibility. It is also instrumental in increasing self-confidence, promoting respect for yourself and others, and most importantly provides fun and enjoyment with a real feeling of achievement.
George Goulding started the club in 1991 and has run the club ever since. He watched a demonstration put on by local senior instructors and became hooked. He has now been training in Tae Kwon-Do for more than 21 years and has a huge amount of experience.
The Evesham club has grown steadily from just seven initial members to a large and varied membership with an age range from nine to 50.
This diversity is illustrated by the Jacka family, where mum and dad, Venessa and Saul, train alongside daughters Anna (11), and Kate (9). Each member of the family is progressing through the grades at their own pace.
As well as a large age range, there is a good mixture of grades from White Belt beginners through to the senior grades, including several members who, after hard work and dedication, have earned their Black Belts.
Three of these students have gone on to show continued improvement and have achieved their 2nd Degree (2nd Dan) Black Belts.
All of the students, junior and senior, agree that the club's reputation for offering a friendly and encouraging approach to learning is well deserved.
The club is a member of the Tae Kwon-Do of Great Britain (TAGB) the largest and most successful of any such association in the UK.
Through this membership, entry into local, national and international competitions is available, along with access to seminars provided by the world's top martial artists. The association also provides internationally recognised grades and courses.
The TAGB is a recognised member of the Sports Council.
As part of the tenth anniversary celebrations, Evesham Tae Kwon-Do Club would like to invite everyone for a free trial lesson to give you a chance to see for yourselves what this exciting martial art has to offer.
This opportunity will be held at Evesham High School on Monday from 7pm.
If you are interested but unable to attend, feel free to drop into the venue any Monday or Thursday after 7pm or ring George on 07790 727208 for more information.
