LONGDON Churchwomen's Fellowship at their October meeting enjoyed a most interesting and informative talk by Dennis Foster of the Gloucestershire Disabled Afloat Riverboats Trust (DART) who base their boat DART at Upton-upon-Severn. The trust provides river holidays for disabled people and their carers on the rivers Severn and Avon and the Sharpness Canal. Fellowship are now looking forward to their annual dinner which will be held in Longdon Village Hall on November 28, at 7pm for 7.30pm.
Outer Limits, the Benefice church youth group, will be meeting in Longdon Vicarage tomorrow (Saturday), from 7-9pm. There will be the usual games, food, conversation and activity.
On Sunday there will be a family service in St Mary's Church at 10am. All ages are welcome, including young children and the service will last for about 35 minutes.
On Monday, Longdon Church Choir will be rehearsing their Christmas music from 6.45-7.45pm in Longdon Church. The junior members are invited to arrive five minutes earlier for a special practice. The choir mistress Wendy Thompson would be pleased to hear from anyone interested in joining the choir. Please ring on (01684) 833256.
On Tuesday, the Benefice magazine will be printed and assembled in Longdon Vicarage, from 9am-4.30pm. In the evening, the board of trustees of Longdon and Queenhill United Charities will be holding their AGM in Longdon Vicarage at 8pm.
On Saturday, December 8 there will be a medieval Christmas fayre, in aid of Longdon St Mary's Primary School, from 2-4pm in the Memorial Hall, Upton-upon-Severn. Stalls will include White elephant, raffle, tombola, crazy sand, panning for gold, cakes, plants and Christmas wreathes and refreshments (including mince pies). A special attraction will be a visit by Father Christmas who may be seen in his grotto at a cost of £2 per child.
Longdon St Mary's School will be holding a bring & buy sale in aid of the Blue Peter Appeal on Friday, December 14, at 3.30pm. Items for sale will be welcome but are not essential. The sale will take place in school. Phone (01684) 833291 for directions.
On Saturday, December 15 St Mary's Church will be holding their annual Christmas fayre in Upton Memorial Hall from 10am-noon. Stalls will include cakes, tombola, raffle, gifts, coffee and mince pies.
