Auctioneer Philip Serrell has a busy evening at the Lyttelton Rooms next Friday, when 171 lots have been catalogued for sale at West Malvern Cricket Club's big 'auction of promises'. The lots come from donors as varied as from donors as varied as David Attenborough, former Worcs CCC secretary Rev Mike Vockins, English National Opera, West Malvern Village Stores, Surrey CCC and local artist Jim Croome. But the lot for which Philip may find it hardest to know where to pitch his request is from Derek Price, which is catalogued as Slave for a Day. Rumours a number of ladies are getting together to buy this item are probably unfounded.
Congratulations to John and Carol Pearson on achieving an entry for the Lamb Inn in the new edition of the prestigious Good Beer Guide, for the quality of their beer and Carol's excellent meals.
Congratulations too to the 'Burning Burkas' - otherwise Martin and Ruth Reed and Wilf and Sharon Keeley, who made up the team that enjoyed a comfortable win at last Saturday's cricket club quiz, for which the questions were set by Bob and Valerie Blackbourn.
Don't forget the craft fair in the Village Hall tomorrow (Saturday), 11-3pm.
