FORMER Malvern footballer John Shirley helped Hereford United to claim another slice of FA Cup history when the Nationwide Conference outfit defeated Second Division Wrexham on Sunday.
Shirley, aged 20, played the full game in front of the live TV cameras in the thrilling first round tie.
A former Malvern Wanderers player, midfielder Shirley, who played right back during the game, had a spell with Wolverhampton Wanderers Academy before moving to United on a YTS scheme.
A contract followed and he is now in his second season with the Bulls.
Breaking into the team at the latter part of last season, Shirley is just returning from an early season injury that has denied him a regular place so far.
Hereford have now been drawn away to another Second Division side, Swindon Town, in the FA Cup second round.
