POLICE attending Tuesday night's meeting of Upton Town Council asked members to help with "intelligence gathering".
Beat manger PC Mark Taylor said concerns had been raised about delinquency since he took over from PC Dilip Sarkar in June, but that he had been unable to bring anyone to book.
"People have reported problems with youngsters going behind the old fire station and we have patrolled there," he said.
"Unfortunately, on that occasion they were not doing anything illegal, although it's interesting to note they came from out of town."
His colleague, Sgt Charlie Heritage, urged councillors to report things they notice during the course of their duties.
"If we see youths sitting on a park bench, there's not a lot we can do about it, as there's no by-law saying it's illegal," he said.
"But if there is something you are aware of and it's not an emergency, then leave a message on Mark's voicemail."
