SCHOOL'S out for summer and Jeremy Robinson and David Park both emerged with straight As after successfully negotiating the European Tour Qualifying School.

Evesham's Robinson finished tied eighth and Hereford's Park tied 14th to land one of the prized 35 Tour cards up for grabs at the testing Sotogrande and San Roque golf courses near Cadiz, Spain.

Robinson carded two superb closing rounds of 68 to secure his card while four sparkling rounds in the 60s were enough for Park to overcome a disastrous final round of 80.

Despite his last round aberration Park was confident he had done enough with his early rounds of 69, 73, 67, 65, and 69.

"I knew I was pretty safe really and would have had to shoot more than 80 to lose out," said Park.

"I didn't actually play that badly in the final round -- I was just punished for some loose shots.

"It basically means I'm going to have more events than I was before went to the Tour school."

Park found himself having to qualify for his card after injury and inconsistency hampered his progress this year after a successful two years.

"I didn't play well this year and also suffered from a back and wrist injury. I hurt my back at Woburn and after I finally got it properly diagnosed it took me another three or four weeks to get back to fitness," he added.

Both Park and Robinson are looking forward to a few months off from the rigours of the tour.

"I've played non stop since January and it is going to be good to have a break. I'll watch a bit of rugby --though I won't be playing of course, it's too dangerous -- and work on my fitness for next year," said Park.

"The rankings are re-evaluated after the first 14 tournaments so I need to make a good start."

Robinson's performances in Spain were a satisfying end to a year which had seen him earn nearly £65,000.

"It went very well. I was really pleased to shoot two closing 68s and I couldn't be more happy with how it went," he said. "I didn't play badly at all but the last round was uite nerve-wracking although generally during the six rounds I felt quite relaxed.

"It's a big relief to have finished so well because it means I can pick and choose my tournaments next year and generally makes life a lot easier.

"I can now enjoy some time off and look forward to competing on the European Tour next year."
