TRAVELLING away to Birmingham side Warley should have been a fairly straightforward journey, but thanks to Saturday's motorway chaos on the M5, Upton found themselves arriving 30 minutes late for this fixture.
WARLEY 2nds 22pts, UPTON 2nds 36pts
The first few minutes of the match saw Upton start falteringly with Warley quickly scoring a try.
Upton's veteran captain, Dai Hodges rallied his team which began to work cohesively with a succession of tries from Rob Wynn, Paul Jauncy and Henry Barfoot-Caunt.
It was not all one-way however. Warley responded, capitalising on some woeful defending by Upton and ran in two more tries to even the scores. The hosts were then also awarded a penalty try.
Captain Hodges said: "It was end to end stuff, we had a shaky start but then began to run in the points only to be caught up. We dominated in the scrum and the versatility and dogged performance of our front five paid dividends. Paul Williams at second row was outstanding with prop, Ben Leeke demonstrating much more control in his game."
There were further tries in the second half, again from both Wynn and Barfoot-Caunt with replacement forward, Kevin Foley also diving over the line in the final minutes of the game to leave the score at 36-22.
Rich Williams converted three of Upton's tries.
