IF the worldwide coalition had been "waging an undeclared war on another country", Wendy Hands (You Say, November 17) might have had a point. Unfortunately for her, we aren't and she didn't.
The campaign has been fought not against any country but against the terrorist cancer feeding off Afghanistan.
If you don't believe me, ask the Afghans themselves, who have been dancing in the streets to celebrate the demise of the Taliban.
The silly notion that this was ever a "war against Afghanistan" is a fiction put about by those who, like Ms Hands, want the luxury of standing on the sidelines wringing their hands but have zero practical suggestions for what else should be done.
Force alone will not be enough. We need to win hearts and minds as well as battles here.
However, a refusal of any kind of force will only invite countless repetitions of September 11 - which would be the most immoral outcome of them all.
