MALVERN Premiers conceded their second defeat of the season last Sunday when they lost to Badsey Rec Reserves 3-1 in the third round of the Evesham Hospital Cup.
MALVERN PREMIERS 1, BADSEY REC RESERVES 3
After only 11 minutes, Andy Collard's miss kick of the ball allowed Badsey a clear run on goal and they made no mistake.
Twelve minutes later, man of the match Terry Graty, made a pin point pass to Jamie Abba, who rounded the Badsey defence to get an equaliser for the Prems. Both teams battled hard but it was Badsey who took the lead just before half time to make it 2-1 at the break.
The first 15 minutes of the second half saw both teams stepping up the pace. Prems got their chance to equalise with a hand ball penalty decision, but Collard failed to convert when the Badsey keeper anticipated the shot.
Having used all their substitutes, the Prems were then reduced to ten men when Jason Griffiths suffered an injury and had to leave the game. Badsey piled on the pressure, but inevitably the Prems with the disadvantage conceded another goal to make the final tally 3-1.
Prems manager, Dave Loader, said: "We didn't seem to want it as much as the Badsey boys, although we battled hard on occasions, overall, we put in a disappointing performance and Badsey deserved to go through to the next round."
Malvern Premiers, sponsored by the Cross Keys, return to the league fixtures this Sunday and play away against Colwall St James. Players to meet at Victoria Park at 9.30am prompt for 10.30am kick off.
