EXPRESS travelled to Martley for this Worcester League Sunday Division Two game and had lost the match before they really got into their stride.

MARTLEY SPURS RES 4, EXPRESS 88 FC 2

Sloppy passing and non existent marking by the Express saw them concede on 15 and 30 minutes without really threatening a well-organised Martley side.

Mark Taylor and Matt Clifford up front for Express had little chance to make an impact from the poor service they received and Express could have no complaints at being 2-0 down at the break.

A stern half-time talking to and some regrouping saw Express start the second half like a different side, controlled possession and passing saw a three man move culminate at the feet of Mark Taylor, who scored to put Express back in the hunt on the hour.

As time progressed Express pushed on further and the hard work of Sean Clark and Alan Preece kept Express' hopes alive, until they were caught pushing up and a well finished long ball saw Martley restore their two goal lead.

Express were not finished yet and a second from Mark Taylor again kept their hopes alive until five minutes before time when it was the home side who scored the all important last goal to seal their win.

An industrious performance deservedly earned Alan Preece the Express man of the match vote and a reasonably impressive last 20 minutes for debutante Rob Kelly is another plus from an otherwise poor day.

This Sunday Express are away to local rivals Malvern Radar in the league, players meet 10am at Victoria Park.
