STOURPORT Swifts will be hoping to kick off the new season with a piece of silverware when they meet Stourbridge for the Joe McGorian Trophy at Walshes Meadow on Saturday (kick-off 3pm).
And with a game at home to another Midland Football Alliance side Boldmere St Michaels tonight (kick-off 7.30pm), manager Rod Brown will be keen to see his side return to winning ways after pre-season defeats by Nationwide Conference outfit Hereford United and a visiting Kidderminster Harriers side.
The Joe McGorian Trophy is the annual clash between the Alliance champions and League Cup winners.
And with visitors Stourbridge looking to challenge for promotion this season, Swifts will face a tricky test, especially coming just two days after meeting Boldmere.
But Brown has been impressed with his side's displays so far, despite Hereford and Kidderminster coming out on top.
New signings Asa Charlton and Willie Dunn were particularly impressive in the 2-0 defeat by Hereford - the visitors' goals coming from Daniel Davidson - with Charlton, a summer signing from Rushall Olympic, also starring in the 2-1 defeat by Harriers where an Alex Cowley goal was cancelled out by strikes from Matt Reeves and Matt Lewis.
Swifts continue their friendlies with a home match against Bromsgrove Rovers on Tuesday (kick-off 7.30pm).
