A WOMAN was sprayed in the face with "an unknown substance" as she sat in her car.
The three youths who attacked her stole her car keys and handbag, police said.
They hope Christmas shoppers in the area at the time may be able to help them trace the attackers.
The trio opened the woman's red Ford Fiesta door as she sat in Merton Meadow Car Park, Hereford, at around 5pm yesterday and sprayed the substance into her face.
After stealing her keys and bag they ran off towards the nearby Do It All store.
The youths were male, tall and aged between 17 and 18. One was wearing a cream top.
"The lady was treated at Victoria Eye Hospital and has since been released, but this was a strange attack," said Hereford police spokeswoman Georgie Bates.
"They did seem to target the lady. Merton Meadow is a busy car park and it makes you think that if it can happen there then where's next?"
