JOHN Brain has been left fuming by rugby officials who have moved the goal posts in a suspension row.
The Worcester Rugby Club chief has blasted the RFU for giving out misleading information concerning Sixways' prop Neil Lyman who is due to serve a one-match ban.
The suspension, after three yellow cards in a year, was due for this weekend's clash at Exeter, but Brain has now been informed that the player will sit out the Moseley match on December 29.
Officials originally indicated that Lyman would be unavailable for the Exeter game but have now changed the date. And with Brain tailoring last weekend's squad against Rugby Lions to cope with Lyman's impending absence, he is less than impressed by the situation.
"It's a cock-up," said Brain. "I was told quite clearly by the disciplinary top man that Neil was banned for Exeter. Now, we have been told, things have changed. We specifically left him out of the squad for Rugby because he would miss the Exeter game. That is now not the case."
