WORCESTERSHIRE ace Terry Murphy is through to the last 32 of the UK Snooker Champion-ships in York.
The world number 35, who lives in Martley, finished a 7-3 winner in a scrappy match against Scotland's Billy Snaddon, who reached the quarter-finals of the European Open last week.
Ulsterman Murphy had a top break of just 64, but pinched several fragmented frames on the colours to set up a second round match with former world champion Ken Doherty.
"My snooker was worse than terrible and it was an awful match," admitted Murphy. "I was shaking on every shot and I couldn't control the cue ball. Luckily for me, Billy was tired after his adventures in Malta last week and I was able to grind out the result.
"Christmas is coming up and there are presents to pay for so it would be nice to have a good run, but I will have to improve drastically if I am going to win."
