STOURPORT Swifts have landed a dream FA Umbro Trophy third round tie at Nationwide Conference strugglers Chester City.

The Walshes Meadow club, who are taking part in the competition for the first time, saw off Unibond Premier Division side Bishop Auckland in a thrilling 5-4 win at the weekend.

Troubled Chester were relegated from the Football League two seasons ago but are now second from bottom of the Conference.

Secretary Nigel Green said: "What is happening now is unbelievable and we have to keep pinching ourselves about what has happened to the club in recent years," he said.

"Last year we reached the FA Cup third qualifying round and the quarter finals of the FA Vase and now this - it's fantastic especially for Chris Reynolds and John McDonald and others who have given such a lot of service to the club.

"Chester is a good draw and is not too far to travel. They are ex-Football League and have a nice playing surface so hopefully we can do OK. The lads are playing well under Tim Langford and we'll look forward to it.

"Chester are two leagues above us and most of their players are probably full-time professional so it will be a hard game but we will certainly put up a good fight."

Hereford United have been drawn away at Ryman Premier Division side Chesham United and Director of Football Graham Turner admitted it was not an easy draw.

"You always hope for a home draw and our record away against sides below us has not been too clever so we're not over pleased with it," he said.

"But it could have been worse and we are going to have to go there and battle and scrap to get a result."

The ties will be played on Saturday, January 12.
