Looking at the front page picture of the Alcester Chronicle of November 14 and reading the accompanying article, I take it that at some time in the past, two of the gentlemen were members of HM Forces.
As they are now exes, why with others of their ilk do they constantly wish to proclaim their previous rank?
It is not only meaningless to the majority of the now civilian population but shows how big their egos are and one of the reasons why many ex-service personnel do not join the Royal British Legion.
Has the title of Mr, Mrs or Miss some stigma attached to it? To many exes it's the other way round. This continuous self proclamation of rank and title is nothing but self gratification and quite laughable.
Will England ever be rid of it?
