People who use the Beoley Brook bridge frequently would do well to be careful for on the authority of Mr J Gross and Mr Perrins, surveyor, the bridge is completely rotten.
With the extra traffic, due to there being no bridge at Dagnell End for a while, it has been too much for its never great resistive powers.
Were it not for the danger to life and limb, we should welcome the news of its impending collapse.
For a moderate flood would probably sweep it away and then somebody, we assume, would have to provide a new bridge and that would be a reliable structure and suitable for the traffic it has to bear.
But in the meantime Redditch Council, with their usual lofty disregard of cost, are rushing headlong into the expense of a few nails and boards to meet temporary needs.
