FUNDRAISERS will be braving the winter weather on Friday night (December 7) to help homeless people in Malvern.
The Priory is the venue for the annual sleepout, when up to eight hardy volunteers will be defying the elements to raise cash for Malvern Hills Homeless Young Adults Trust (Mhhyat).
Mhhyat runs the Foyer centre in Malvern Link, which provides shelter and training opportunities for young people from the area who have found themselves without a place to live.
The sleepout is one of the trust's regular fundraising opportunities. Malvern College has already made a contribution by holding its own sponsored sleepout in a sports hall.
Foyer manager Jonathan Greenwood said: "We don't know how much the college has raised yet but I have been told it is quite substantial."
Money is also being raised by the sale of Mhhyat calendars and Christmas cards, which Mr Greenwood said was also going well.
Meanwhile, the trust has a new chairman, Canon Bill Richards, the former vicar of Malvern Priory. He replaces Tom Kearney, chairman for the past two years, who is moving to France.
