A SUPER bug-free zone has been created at the Alexandra Hospital in an attempt to speed patient recovery and prevent infection.
The highly contagious Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus (MRSA) sweeps across wards and is commonly known as the hospital super bug.
But ward 16 at the Alexandra has now become an MRSA-free zone specifically for patients who have undergone surgery.
The ward has already helped with the recovery of patients who have gone to the hospital for hip and knee operations.
The trust is trying to reduce waiting times for orthopaedic surgery and has been targeting major cases.
