The home side took the lead when Dean Tilley crossed from the right for Powell to hammer into the net.
Garringtons' second came after the ball was again played out of defence, through midfield and out to the left where Mark Johnson's excellent centre was converted by Tilley.
To Cradley's credit, they kept playing well and after six minutes of injury time in the first half, Steven Harris pulled a goal back with a 20-yard shot.
Within minutes of the restart, Steven Evans took a corner on the right and Anthony Pritchard rose above everybody to head into the Cradley net.
Evans then put Powell away and he rounded the goalkeeper to make it 4-1.
With 20 minutes remaining, Johnson was the provider again. His perfect through ball set up Powell to complete his hat-trick.
Cradley never gave in and scored a deserved consolation goal through Harris.
