JOHN Norwood is right (You Say, November 26) - we do live in selfish society.
Exactly the same thing happened to me at Malvern Waste Disposal Site, while clearing a mess I had made.
I used the spade and broom left by a skip, and a middle aged man said "why do their work, they are paid to do that from our - the taxpayers' - money."
Yes, they are, but in this modern throwaway society, isn't their work now hard enough, without the likes of the general public dropping rubbish on the floor and walking away to leave someone else to clear it up behind them.
However, it is a losing battle. What chance do we stand when you follow cars throwing rubbish and leftover food from fast food chains out of the windows as they go along. McDonald's drive-through give a bag to put your rubbish in when you have finished.
Good for them, but people then just fill them, then throw them on to the roadside for someone else to pick up.
