Worcester Colts presented Bromsgrove with their toughest challenge of the season to date and the visitors' cause was made the more difficult with a number of players unavailability.
Worcester Dvlp Colts 36
Bromsgrove Colts 0
A number of players made the step up from the u17s but Worcester showed their class right from the start, using the ball well and putting together some fluent moves.
Most of these were snuffed out by resolute Bromsgrove tackles, but crucially not the first tackle.
Bromsgrove competed well and held their talented opposition for 18 minutes before the scoring started.
Bromsgrove were more than a match for Worcester in the scrums, winning several against the head.
Unfortunately the distribution of the ball was poor with Rollett, the Worcester scrum-half, causing problems at the back of the scrum.
The ball the Colts did win was slow and predictable and the big Worcester backs defended their gain line very well.
Rollett opened the scoring with a simple try, converted from under the posts, and Cameron Mitchell, a 6ft 4in centre with remarkable pace, earned the man of the match award with a hat-trick of well taken tries.
A couple of times Matt Lewis broke free with the ball, but was hauled down by excellent defensive work.
Other highlights of the game were the tenacious tackling of Adam Kelleher and some powerful runs by Carl Bradbury at number eight.
In the end Worcester scored six tries half of which were converted by Rollett.
