THE November meeting was well attended but with a strong bias to the female!
The subject was A Flower Arrangement for Christmas and the speaker/demonstrator was Sylvia Palmer, a local florist.
Sylvia proceeded to whiz through about 10 beautiful and inspired arrangements, from small table centres to large pedestals.
She used every possible material from artificials to glorious greens from the garden and exotics such as amaryllis and bright gerberas.
There were tips for the amateur and the more experienced floral artist as well.
Sylvia believes that there are few rules and we should definitely 'go with the flow', although our flow may not be as inspired as hers.
She was ably assisted by her daughter, Wendy Holloway, and generously gave several arrangements to be raffled.
Next month, the club holds its Christmas social, which is a skittles night at the Mother Huff Cap at Great Alne.
This will offer members and guests a choice of food and a free prize draw as well as a night of skittles. It will take place on Wednesday, December 12, at 7.30pm and will cost £2 for members and £4 for guests.
Anyone interested should call Hilary Morgan on 01789 765105 for details or to book.
Next year's first meeting will take place at the Swan Hotel on Thursday, January 17, and the speaker will be Philip Aubury, from Birmingham Botanical Gardens.
