PROFESSIONAL clown and Mothers' Union speaker (no connection!) Angela Lilley asked members to think about what the Mothers' Union meant to them.
Unity, friendship, strength and prayerful support were some of the suggestions. It was felt publicity and image were areas which could be improved.
The fact that this worldwide organisation is open to men and women, married or single, parents or not, is not widely understood nor that a great deal of practical help is given.
The ongoing provision of basic toiletries for use at the Crossways Women's Refuge, the making of baby gowns, caps and bootees for the Special Care Unit, YMCA food distribution and work in local prisons are just some of the branch's projects.
The next meeting is on Monday, December 17, at 8pm.
